List of TILF Scholarships

All applicants must meet the main scholarship requirements (including participation at the state level in a UIL academic contest) and should also consider any additional requirements listed below. Please note that applicants will be considered for any award for which they meet the criteria.

Abell-Hanger Foundation Awards of $8,000 each, payable $2,000 each semester of the first two years

Preference given to applicants from 56 West Texas counties. Recipients must have an SAT/ACT score of 1190/24 or above and must attend a state supported fully accredited four-year college or university.

Abell-Hanger Foundation Nursing Awards Awards of $8,000 each, payable $2,000 each semester of the first two years

Steve Barton “Achieving the Dream” Endowed Scholarship Award of $3,000, payable $1,500 each semester of the first year

Recipient must have competed in One-Act Play and should major in theatre. Preference given to applicants with strong combination of skills in singing, dancing, concert piano, as well as in directing and scenic, costume, and publicity design.

Henry Beckman Memorial Scholarship Award of $6,000, payable $3,000 each semester of the first year

Recipients must have competed in Number Sense, must be in the upper 25% of their graduating class, and must attend The University of Texas at Austin.

Roy Bedichek Memorial Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year Recipient must attend The University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Charles & Debbie Breithaupt Scholarship Award of $2,000, payable $1,000 each semester of the first year
Charlotte Brown UIL Scholarship Award of $500, payable in full the first semester of college

For graduates of Gregory-Portland High School who participated in UIL speech, debate, or theatre events.

The Brown Foundation, Inc. Awards of $1,000 each, payable $500 each semester of the first year
Central Texas Retired Coaches Association Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year
The CH Foundation Awards of up to $3,000 each, payable up to $1,500 each semester, with possible renewal.

For students from Cochran, Hockley, Lubbock, Terry, or Yoakum counties. Preference given to first-generation college students.

William L. Chapman Memorial Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year, with possible renewal if requirements are met

Recipient must be from Karnes County and attend one of the following high schools: Karnes City, Falls City, Kenedy, or Runge. Recipient must attend a four-year state supported college or university and must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.

The Clark Foundation Awards of $1,000 each, payable $500 each semester of the first year
Louise P. and Joe B. Cook Memorial Scholarship Fund Awards of $4,000 each, payable $500 each semester for four years

For contestants in Accounting, Calculator Applications, Computer Science, Copy Editing, Debate, Mathematics, Number Sense, Ready Writing, Science, Informative and Persuasive Speaking, or Spelling & Vocabulary. Students also participating in the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest will be given special consideration. Recipients must attend an accredited four-year college or university.

Carroll Ray Daniel Memorial Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of first year
Zelah Mae and Jasper Dee Memorial Awards of $1,000 each, payable $500 each semester of the first year
DeLee-Evans Scholarship Award of $4,000, payable $500 each semester of the first four years

For students from Bexar, Wilson, Atascosa, Karnes, Comal, Bandera, Medina, Guadalupe, Kendall, or Jefferson counties who are majoring in athletic training, medicine, or physical therapy at a public university in the state of Texas.

David W. Doss Memorial Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of first year Preference given to music or performance arts majors.
Mavournee & Wayne DuBose Family Scholarship Awards of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year and renewable for three years if requirements are met.

Preference given to applicants from Bee County. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 college GPA.

George Dumont Memorial Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year

Recipient must be from Karnes County and attend one of the following high schools: Karnes City, Falls City, Kenedy, or Runge. Recipients must attend a four-year stat supported college or university and maintain a minimum 2.5 college GPA.

Sam & Kathy Elliott Graduate Scholarship Awards of $8,000 each, payable $2,000 per semester for two years of graduate school

For current TILF Scholars from 1A and 2A high schools to pursue a graduate degree. (A separate application must be completed during the senior year of college.)

Recipient must attend The University of Texas at Austin and declare a major in the College of Natural Sciences.

Richard L. Floyd Honorary Music Scholarship Awards of $1,000 each, payable $500 each semester of the first year

Recipients must have advanced to the state level in an UIL academic contest AND have received a division rating of I or II in a solo performance at the UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest.

Ragan D. Gennusa Scholarship Award of $4,000, payable $500 each semester of the first four years

For students from Jefferson or Hays County majoring in art at a public university in the state of Texas

Eric Geyer Memorial Scholarship Award of $2,500, payable $1,250 each semester of the first year

Recipient must have competed in One-Act Play, Speech, or Debate and plan to pursue one of these activities in college. An interest in pursuing a career in education is a plus.

Richard Gibby Memorial Music Scholarship Award of $1,000 each, payable $500 each semester of the first year

Recipient must have advanced to the state level in a UIL academic contest AND have received made a division rating of I or II in a solo performance at the UIL State Solo Contest. Preference given to applicants majoring in music with plans to enter the teaching profession.

A Life Well Lived - Sandra Greene Memorial Scholarship Award of $500, payable $250 each semester of the first year Recipient must be a state finalist placing 4th, 5th, or 6th in Persuasive Speaking.
Dr. Norman Hackerman Memorial Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year Recipient must attend The University of Texas at Austin and major in chemistry/biochemistry.
Dr. Max R. Haddick Journalism Memorial Award of $500, payable $250 each semester of the first year For contestants in UIL Journalism.
Robert R. Hammond Endowed Scholarship Awards of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year Preference given to applicants majoring in accounting.
Hexco, Inc. Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year For students placing first in one of the following individual contests: Accounting, Computer Applications, Computer Science, Current Issues and Events, Number Sense, Ready Writing, Science, Social Studies, Journalism, Literary Criticism, or Spelling & Vocabulary.
Jim & Marcia Hilsabeck Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year Preference given to competitors in the UIL Spelling & Vocabulary contest.
Marcia Hilsabeck Endowed Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year

Preference given to competitors in the UIL Spelling & Vocabulary contest.

Parker Hilsabeck Memorial Scholarship $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year

Preference given to applicants in the Central Texas area.

Kristi Hodgkiss Memorial Scholarship $1,500, payable $750 each semester of the first year

For applicants from Northeast Texas who competed in speech and debate contests. Preference given to applicants who competed in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Houston Endowment Inc. Awards of $1,000 each, payable $500 each semester of the first year
Jefferson Clark Johnson Drama Education Memorial Award of $500, payable $250 each semester of the first year Recipient should declare his/her intention to major in drama education.
Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd T. Jones Memorial Scholarships Awards of $2,500 each, payable $1,250 each semester of the first year Preference given to The University of Texas at Austin applicants with accounting or business honors majors.
R.J. Kidd Memorial Scholarships Awards of $1,000 each, payable $500 each semester of the first year Recipients must attend The University of Texas at Austin. These scholarships are in honor of the founder of the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation.
John Porter King, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Awards of $1,000 each, payable $500 each semester of the first year

Preference given to applicants from George West ISD and to applicants who participated in sports.

Harold Lawrence Memorial Scholarship Awards of $2,500 each, payable $1,250 each semester of the first year
Carolyn Waller Long Memorial Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year and renewable for three years if requirements are met. Recipient must be from Karnes County and one of the following high schools: Falls City, Karnes City, Kenedy or Runge. Preference given to applicants who attend a four-year state supported college or university. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 college GPA.
Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long Endowment Awards of $20,000 each, payable $2,500 each semester for four years Preference given to The University of Texas at Austin applicants. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 college GPA.
Dr. Teresa Lozano Long Scholarship Awards of $12,000 each, payable $1,500 each semester for four years Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Tucker Long Honorary Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year, with possible renewal.

For students majoring in math, science, or computer science. Preference given to students attending UT Austin.

Arturo V. and Elvira D. Lozano Scholarship Award of $12,000, payable $1,500 each semester for four years Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Dr. Bailey and Becky Marshall & Friends Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year
Reverend Henry Martin and Margaret Martin Memorial Scholarship Awards of $1,000 each, payable $500 each semester of the first year, with possible renewal for an additional year Recipients must attend an accredited college or university and declare a major in religion or ministry studies.
Clyde V. McKee, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year Recipient must rank in the top 25% of their graduating class and must attend a state supported fully accredited four-year college or university. Preference given to applicants from Orange, Sabine, Newton and Hardin counties.
Billy Tom McKown Endowed Scholarship Award of $2,000, payable $500 each semester of the first two years

Recipient must have attended high school in Hill County.

The Meadows Foundation Awards of $4,000 each, payable $500 each semester for four years For contestants in Ready Writing. Recipients must attend an accredited four-year college or university and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Herman August “Buddy” Meyer Jr. Scholarship $4,000, payable $500 each semester for four years

For applicants from Northside ISD or San Antonio ISD. Preference given to applicants graduating from Tom C. Clark or Sam Houston High School.

The Moody Foundation Awards of $4,000 each, payable $500 each semester for four years
Dr. Philip J. Moorad Jr. Memorial Scholarship Award of $2,500, payable $1,250 each semester of the first year

Applicants must intend to work in the mental health field as a therapist or counselor of some kind. Requires additional 100 word short answer statement on application.

Keitha Morris Memorial Award Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year For Outstanding Actress from the UIL region in which White Deer HS competes in the One-Act Play Contest.
Robert Mueller Memorial Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year Preference given to The University of Texas at Austin applicants with accounting or business honors majors.
Gondal & Sandra Mullenax Scholarship Award of $500, payable $250 each semester of the first year

Preference given to applicants from Conference 1A, 2A, or 3A high schools and to contestants who competed in Prose or Poetry.

Lynn and Pat Murray Scholarship Award of $2,000, payable $1,000 each semester of the first year

Preference given to UIL State One-Act Play Contest, but all UIL Academic State Meet participants are eligible. Candidate must major in theatre teacher training and plan to pursue a career in theatre as a theatre arts teacher in public schools or colleges. Preference given to applicants who plan to attend The University of Texas at Austin. Potential scholarship matching opportunity for students enrolling in the UT Department of Theatre and Dance.

The Mike A. Myers Foundation Awards of $12,000 each, payable $1,500 each semester of the first four years

Recipients must attend an accredited four-year college or university in the state of Texas and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Dan and Maxine Owen Memorial Scholarship Award of $500, payable $250 each semester of the first year

For students enrolled in either the Holliday or Jacksboro School Districts pursuing a career in public education.

Panhandle Chapter of TSCPA Scholarships Awards of $2,500 each, payable $250 each semester for up to five years

For the top five scorers of the UIL district Accounting contest that are from the schools within the 25 counties that comprise the geographic area of the Panhandle Chapter of the TSCPA. Recipients must enroll full time, major in accounting and maintain a minimum 3.0 college GPA. The scholarship is limited to one per student and may only be applied for during the student's senior year, regardless of when the top scorer distinction was received.

Arlis Parkhurst Endowed Scholarship Awards of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year. Award may be renewed if criteria are met. Recipients must be from 1A, 2A, and 3A schools in West Texas, with preference to those students who plan to attend trade or technical schools or community colleges.
Dr. Nelson Gray Patrick Memorial Music Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year

Recipient must have advanced to the state level in a UIL academic contest AND have received a division rating of I or II in a solo performance at the UIL State Solo Contest. Preference given to applicants majoring in music.

Patriot Scholarship Awards of $4,000 each, payable $500 each semester for four years

Recipients must be the child of a veteran, rank in the top 25% of their class, attend a fully accredited college or university in the state of Texas, maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average, and be enrolled full-time. Preference given to children of injured veterans

Bob Penick Memorial Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year

Preference given to students planning to attend Abilene Christian University and major in a math or science field.

Linda Kay Wilks Poole Memorial Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year

For female contestants in the UIL Computer Applications contest. 

Red Oak Foundation Awards of $4,800 each, payable $600 each semester for four years

For contestants in any UIL academic event who declare the intention to teach in the public school system in Texas. Recipients must show a financial need and maintain a 2.75 GPA while taking at least 12 hours each semester at a state supported four-year university in Texas or Texas Wesleyan University. Applicants must also submit a statement with their online application stating in 150 words or less why they want to teach in the public school system, grades K-12.

Menoka Basu Roy Memorial Scholarship Award of $24,000, payable $3,000 each semester of the first four years

Preference given to female applicants with demonstrated financial need.

Hatton W. Sumners Foundation Awards of $1,000 each, payable $500 each semester of the first year For citizens of the United States. Recipients must major in government, political science or history and attend an accredited four-year college or university.
Texas Educational Theatre Association One Act Play Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year

For contestants in UIL One Act Play who plan to major in theatre.

Texas Educational Theatre Association Theatrical Design Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year

For contestants in the theatrical design contests who plan to major in theatre.

Texas Educational Theatre Association Theatre Education Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year Recipient must be pursuing a degree in theatre education.
Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest (TSSEC) Scholarship Awards of $500 each, payable $250 each semester of the first year

Recipient must have advanced to the state level in an UIL academic contest AND have received a division rating of I in a solo performance at the UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest. Preference given to applicants majoring in music with plans to enter the teaching profession.

For contestants in the UIL journalism contests, with preference given to those majoring in journalism.

UIL Science Scholarship Awards of $8,000, payable $1,000 per semester for four years

For contestants in the UIL Science contests, with preference given to students from 1A through 4A high schools. Recipient must attend a four-year college or university and maintain a 3.0 GPA.

UIL Legislative Council Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year
UIL Music Director’s Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year

Recipient must have advanced to the state level in an UIL academic contest AND have received a division rating of I or II in a solo performance at the UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest. Preference given to applicants majoring in music.

UIL State Speech & Debate Judges’ Preference Award Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year

For contestants in the UIL Speech and Debate contests demonstrating excellence in communication skills, with a preference for students planning to major in a communication-related field.

Ray von Rosenberg Oral Interpretation Scholarship Awards of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year

For contestants in UIL Prose and Poetry contests.

Nancy Wall Memorial Journalism Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year For contestants in UIL journalism contests who plan to major or minor in journalism in college.
J.O. Webb Memorial Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year
Dean Weese Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year
The Welch Foundation Awards of $20,000 each, payable $2,500 each semester for four years

Recipients may attend any of the Texas colleges or universities approved by The Welch Foundation as listed here. Recipients must major in chemistry, biochemistry or chemical engineering and be willing to engage in chemical research at the graduate level. Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants will also need to submit a statement with their online application stating in 150 words or less why they desire to major in chemistry, biochemistry or chemical engineering.

Larry & Mona White Number Sense Scholarship 2 awards of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year

Applicants must have competed as an individual or team member in the UIL Number Sense contest at regional or state--winning not required. Preference will be given to those seeking a teaching certificate to teach mathematics at the middle and/or high school level.

Dorothy Sue Whited Memorial Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year For contestants in the UIL speech and debate contests. Recipients must attend The University of Texas at Austin and be enrolled in the business or engineering schools.
Dr. Rhea H. Williams Memorial Scholarship Awards of $1,000 each, payable $500 each semester of the first year Recipients must attend The University of Texas at Austin.
Lola Wright Foundation Awards of $1,000 each, payable $500 each semester of the first year
Tila Zamora and Edward (Eddie) R. Zamora Endowed Scholarship Award of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year

Preference given to applicants from the Rio Grande Valley and Jim Hogg County who are first generation college students.
