UT Banquet Huge Success

Each February, TILF hosts a banquet for recipients at The University of Texas, their donors, Board members, and UIL Academic staff. This year's event was a great success, with a record turnout of TILF Scholars eager to share their stories. The audience was held captive by the interesting, funny and often poignant tales of how students became interested in UIL and how that interest led to success in other areas of life. Many scholars mentioned their hopes to someday be able to repay the generosity of their donors by contributing to TILF themselves. In his address, UIL Executive Director Dr. Charles Breithaupt commended these students for aspiring to continue the tradition of being givers.
Donors and UIL staff were impressed with how articulate and thoughtful students were. "This was probably the best TILF Banquet we've ever had," said TILF Executive Director Dr. Bill Farney, who had the opportunity to meet his recipient, Christopher Peña, at the dinner.
The event was closed by Ellen Gruber, recipient of the TSSEC and UIL Music Scholarships, sharing her talents with the audience as she led "The Eyes of Texas."
